Antonov wants to meet the Swedish Government to campaign for his approval

The Russian financier Vladimir Antonov, waiting to be approved as the owner of Spyker, wants a meeting with Swedish Industry Minister Maud Olofsson according to various reports in Swedish media sources.

In a letter to the Industry Ministry on Thursday, Antonov is reported t have written to the minister that…
"If it were true that the Swedish government feels any doubt or uncertainty as to me personally or my long-term intentions regarding the Saab, it is crucial for me to have the opportunity to discuss my motives, plans and resources in person."


Vladimir Antonov emphasizes that it is his firm belief that Saab can be a successful, well run and profitable Swedish car company.

“We do not mind meeting him if it can be arranged in time. In particular, we look at Maud Olofsson to have a meeting with him, "said H�kan Lind, Ministry press officer.
But the meeting does not determine if and when Antonov can get government approval to be part of the Saab automobile family.

“It has no practical significance for the process for we would have contacted him "said H�kan Lind to one sources, regional newspaper TTELA.
The government maintains that the EIB and GM must first come up with their answers.

“These are those who have a history of opposition to him, "said H�kan Lind.
The government has received decision in support of him from the National Debt Office, which met him a few months ago and feels that Antonov was fit to be a partner of Saab.
